So... after hearing all of the horror stories of the waits expected at the polls today, Tim and I decided we had better get up EARLY to go vote as soon as the polls open. We packed "breakfast" last night and set the alarm for 5am (which wouldn't have been sooo early if we hadn't stayed up until past midnight talking!). We have been waiting for this day for a long time ... and praying for our Country and that she would elect godly leaders.
My poor kiddos - sooo sleepy at 5:30 am in the morning. Thankfully, our polling place was closed and the line wasn't too long at 6am. Good thing, too, that we live in Arizona - most parts of the country boast much worse for weather for waiting in outside lines. It was pretty unbelievable that there was a line at all so early! Tim had to see it to believe it - he thought we would be the only ones at the polls at 6am. WRONG! There we three LONG lines out to the parking lot when we pulled in!
So nerdy, I know, but I took pictures. I wanted the boys to remember their parents getting them up while it was still dark to do our American duty and vote. If either one grows up to be in politics (or student government) I thought it would be fun to look back on. Although, I have to say... Jared was pretty disappointed when we left before he couldn't vote. He was very vocal that HE WANTED TO VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN, TOO!! Stay tuned, buddy, 16 more years and you are in!
I have to admit, I have been really struggling with the election and what the outcome could mean for our Country and my family. It has taken time in prayer and in the Word to find a place of peace in my heart that the Lord does hold the heart of our leaders and can turn them according to His will. We've done what we can now in making the best decisions we can. I have to now TRUST that He is sovereign and in control! Now... time for a nap - good grief we are sleepy! ;-)
