Ahhh... the Irony

I had to pause to laugh to myself at the irony of my life tonight as I worked through a MOUNTAIN of dirty dishes...

Dishes that were caused in part by the steamer pot that I used to steam the fresh zucchini picked from our garden that I used to puree for baby Caleb to introduce a new vegetable (Jared ate half of it raw so it was hardly worth the effort!) ...

Dishes created also from the baby rice cereal I made by cracking brown rice in the Vitamix and cooking to serve and freeze for my very hungry baby. Not only because I can and because its healthy, but mostly because I didn't want to go to the store with three silly boys and an empty grocery envelope (I always overspend the stupid envelope)...

Dishes created in part also from making this week's whole grain bread and pizza dough that sat on the counter rising ...
So ... why the irony? As I am washing this mountain of dishes created by all this homemade, healthy goodness, what I really wanted to be doing was holding that little babe in the hour before his bedtime when he really likes cuddles. Instead of indulging in that delight, I was washing dishes.

And, in order to get through the mountain of dishes with as little fussiness as possible, I let that babe sit on the floor and sort through sippy cups. And, when the sippy cups failed to hold his attention and he started to whine, I handed him a cup of Cheerios. And, as he is unable to grasp them yet very well, I had to lean over with dishpan hands every few minutes to help pop one in his little mouth - and scare off the dog who was trying to sneak in and partake of the cereal he has spilled.

So ... while this baby has homemade rice cereal to last him a while, and homemade baby food from home grown zucchini to last him maybe one more feeding, his mama is washing dishes and dishes, and he is eating Cheerios (as best he can) off of my dirty kitchen floor.

How can you not laugh at that?? :-)

Irony at it's finest. Lol. Wish we could just snuggle the babes and Rosie the Robot could do the rest. Love you Mama.
