I celebrated my 33rd birthday last weekend and my cute husband got me the one gift I have been wanting SO BADLY - a new bike!! And, not just any bike - the exact bike I wanted - an Electra Townie 3i - a sweet hybrid between a comfort beach cruiser and rode bike made for comfortable (upright) rides around town. I LOVE it.
We picked up this sweet ride early in the week, had it fitted with the basket (thanks Aunt Cathy & Uncle Jim!) and brought it home to replace the old, rusty, hand me down ten speed I've been riding the past ten years without complaint (because, as I've told my husband - that's HOW MUCH I love family bike rides!). Now that I have this bike though, I can see why my husband cringed everytime he looked at the old one. Although I was grateful to have a bike, it was a little junky ...
Lucky for me, Caleb's birthday is also in September AND he told us that the one thing HE really wanted for his birthday was a baby seat so he could cruise on the back of my bike. And - also lucky for me, I have an adorable and devoted husband who was ready to assemble that seat at 10pm the night I brought it home. So exciting!
First thing Wednesday, after dropping J off at school, we took our bikes out for a spin! Despite Caleb's reluctance on the helmet, he really likes riding bikes!

Since we're just across the street, it was BYOHC ... because that's how we roll ...

Friday night my cute husband took us on a date. The childcare we use is only good for kiddos after they're walking, so I had two cute dates for my birthday dinner this year AND it was cool enough to sit outside. Lucky me! After dinner, we took a nice sunset walk on the golf course since the boys weren't ready to leave the kids club just yet. :-)
On Saturday, the day of my actual birthday, the whole family saddled up for a long ride ...
(Caleb STILL isn't too sure on the helmet)
To top off a great few days, on Saturday night our sweet friends and neighbors had us over for dinner to celebrate. How nice is that?
