Lions & Tigers & Bears, Oh My!

We took the boys several weeks back to the Shriner's Circus at Westworld (forgive what I hope will be a series of tardy posts - computer troubles! Annoying!).

It was a last minute decision to splurge on a family date to take the boys to a real circus and it was ... fun? interesting? a new experience? Yep. All of the above!

We had to laugh after we arrived as the boys had "free tickets" to get in, but what we didn't know is that from the minute you walked in there were hundreds of ways to entice young ones into spending serious dollars! We told the boys they could pick one thing and after talking them OUT of paying to take 2 turns through a bounce house, we were able to convince them that an elephant ride would be a much more memorable experience!

We waited in a long line for their chance to take two turns around this circle atop this sad, kind elephant. They seemed to enjoy it. I mean, how often do you get to ride an elephant, right? :-)

Our seats were in the section right next to this cute band of old Shriners men ...

Caleb enjoyed watching all the activity ... for a while. :-)

We were enthralled with magicians, and bears, and lions, and dancers, and acrobats and at intermission, when the throng raced again to the middle of the arena for another chance to ride elephants, ponies, and bounce houses, we called it a night.

One of the benefits of taking your three boys under 6 to the Shriner's Circus? Not a one of them yet knows the definition of the word "intermission."

Fun family date. And now we can all say that we've been to a real live circus!
