This is a post dedicated to my strong, sweet second born son - William David Barrett. Also known as "Will" ... "Baby Will" ... sometimes just "Baby" for short or "MY Baby" if Jared is referring to him...We LOVE Will and are so happy to have him be a part of our family. He and Jared are 18 months apart. Although, not within the technical 12 month mark to make the definitive cutoff, we sometimes affectionately refer to them as our "Irish twins."

It has been so fun to see Will grow and develop into his own little person. He is such a HAM! He loves to laugh and make us laugh. If you really want to smile, ask him to do one of his "somersaults" for you. It is hysterical. Will started singing early on - even though Jared and I were the only ones who could understand him. His first song when he was a little over a year old was, "Jesus, You Are My Firm Foundation." Will's version, "JESAH, fff fff fff" We were pretty proud of him!

Will LOVES his big brother and wants to do everything big brother does. (Praise God for the sweet ladies at Sunday school that had grace on him today and let him join big brother in Jared's 2-3 year old class at church this week). Will LOVES to be with his big brother. They have a saying, "Brother and me, best friends are we." I encourage this one to be sung often in our home as it is my heartfelt prayer that these two would be the best of friends.

Lately, Will's favorite playtime activity has been building with wooden blocks - we call him our little engineer. He asks for blocks frequently, "Blocks! Blocks!" Which, to the untrained ear would sound more like, "Blah! Blah!" (When I put them away, I have learned to stash them out of reach, otherwise I would constantly have blocks strewn throughout the house!) Will especially like to touch and stack the cylinder blocks - maybe its something about the way they feel in his small, chubby hands. Of all the colors, his favorite color block is red. I am so grateful I have the privilege of being home and are privy to these small, but important details about my boys' lives.

Another thing about Will is that he is very brave and has absolutely entered the stage where he tests every possible boundary. We have entered the "training two's" early. I'm not sure if you can tell from this picture below, but Will is standing on top of a playground structure at the opening of a 7 foot climbing wall. He likes to climb all the way to the top, grip both sides with his little hands, and very purposefully dangle one sneakered foot over the edge. Holy heart attack, batman!! This is and will be one fearless boy - not coincidentally, something that I prayed for while pregnant with this little boy! Thank-you, Lord for answering that prayer early on! ;-)

And, last, but certainly not least ... no post about Will would be complete without the mention of the massive amounts of food he can put away into that rotund belly of his. This is one particular one year old who really likes to eat. I am grateful that he does eat and eat well ... although, I suspect my grocery bill might be higher than other mom's of one year old's! Yesterday, he and Tim polished off a quart of cottage cheese for breakfast (Tim only had a third of what Will did - you do the math on that one!) An average breakfast for Will consists of a large banana, 2 eggs, cheerios and yogurt, and toast. Breakfast is his favorite meal and he would eat even MORE than that, if I would let him!!

Notice the cute, yellow lab trying the "blend" into the tile next to Will's high-chair? Daisy has adopted this spot as her preferred Barrett Family Mealtime location. She is quite the opportunist! ;-)

We know that Will's healthy appetite is because he is growing STRONG and MIGHTY to SERVE the LORD! Thank-you Lord for precious Will: our healthy, brave, fun, smart, strong-willed "baby" boy!
