Turkey Cookies ...

Cute Jared story ...

We saw a commercial at Christy's one night when the boys and I were hanging out over there in November. It was a little "how-to" on making turkey cookies in honor of Thanksgiving. They showed how to trace your hand on a sheet of sugar cookies to make cut-outs to bake and decorate as handprint turkey cookies.

One afternoon during naps, he got busy on this little project (Jared has pretty much outgrown the nap - unlike me!). Later he came into my room so excited. He said, "Mommy, I've made a special dessert for you and me! Turkey cookies!" After some explanation, I realized that he had cut out paper and actually placed it in the oven expecting it to turn into delicious cookies. I guess he missed the cookie dough part of the process, but it was pretty cute that he was thinking about blessing us. A little scary that he put paper in the oven, but there was no way I could be mad, right? Sweet boy. (and apparently, pretty good with the scissors, too - how about those handprints??)

Although we never did actually get around to making the actual treat, its a great idea for next year!
