Garden Update ...

Having our little garden has been so much fun. Now that spring is really here, things are happening FAST out there. These pics are already old, but I'll post nonetheless....

The kids are enjoying picking fresh veggies. The frequently munch on spinach, collards, and other greens while playing outside. Last week Jared decided to make himself a salad and picked lettuce, washed it, and tossed it with dressing all by himself. It was delish!

This was a big bunch of Kale Jared cut for smoothies ...

Will wanted in on the picture action too...

I was so excited the other day to go outside and discover our first garbanzo bean pods. Aren't they so cute and fuzzy??

And, did you know that zucchini flowers were so pretty? I didn't. Our zucchini is (was) beautiful. This pic was taken about an hour before Daisy dug the poor thing up. Although its been through some trauma, I think its going to make it. We already have some baby zucchini growing! Place your orders now because everyone tells me that one plant produces TONS of squash.

... and some peas

... and tomatoes!

We also have our first artichoke growing on one of our two artichoke plants, as well as lots of onions, chard, collards, spinach, and herbs. Our 3 strawberry plants have produced two (total) sour berries. I just put in some peppers too and hope to have enough for salsa at some point.

... but our favorite (or at least mine) remains the green smoothies. Half the kale in the bunch pictured above with Jared went into these babies. The other half was scrambled with eggs. Yu-um!!
