"R" is for Radish

So... remember when I said that we were all going to learn to LOVE radishes?

We've had some serious fun with them this week...

Wednesday ... At the boys' preschool the letter of the week was "R" so both boys each picked a radish from the garden to take to school and show the class. Jared was excited to share it with everyone and informed me that most of the kids took a little taste. Their alpha tales book was about Rosie who picked a radish. How appropriate!

Thursday ... For Neighborhood Happy Hour I served up some smoked salmon I've had in my freezer for a while. I looked for ideas online and found one that suggested I serve it with cream cheese and (you guessed it) radishes sliced thin. I spruced up the tray with some red leaf lettuce from the garden and added some chopped chives from the garden too ... I started with just two large sliced radishes and had to go back for more since they were quickly eaten on crackers. It was so pretty!

And ... today ... Friday ... both boys went to the garden on their own to pick a radish to eat. Jared took it to the sink to wash it off, got out the cutting board and knife to chop off the leaves and roots and popped it straight into his mouth ...

going ...

going ..

Gone!

What fun this spring garden is!!
