Summer is here ...

Summer is here with a vengeance. Our five day forecast calls for highs from 106 - 111 degrees.

Safe to say the only way to be outside these days in the cool of the pool. Thank goodness all our boys LOVE to swim. Since we are in the water a few times a day, their skills are already improving ... here's the rundown on where they are at today:

Jared - is getting pretty strong in his strokes. He's got a mean freestyle and tonight he showed us he can make it freestyle the entire length with no breaths. (he still needs some work on the side breath technique). He's also getting pretty good at breaststroke/frog kick and almost staying above water on the backstroke. Its impressive to see how far he's come. I'm really hoping I can get him on a swim team in the fall.

Will - still our little water bug. With his big-ol' tummy he's always been able to float for days on his back with little effort. Turns out this has hindered him in reaching the bottom of the pool - we had a breakthrough this week when his daddy showed him how to blow all his air out as he was heading down. The last two days I can't keep him OFF the bottom of the pool!! All I've seen are cute little toes pointed for the sky! He can work arms and legs together in a wiggly, 3 year old freestyle. :-)

Caleb - LOVES the water. He is so happy to splash and can usually hold his breath when Tim and I pass him underwater between us. He's been really easy going in the water with no fear. Although, this week for the first time he did cry when I passed him to his daddy. He is pretty darn attached to me!! I think he has the makings though for another early swimmer. I'm too cheap to buy little swimmers for as often as we're in our pool, so be warned, if Caleb is in the pool he's probably sporting the nudie booty.

AND - both big boys are still fearless when it comes to high jumps. They had a blast last night at a friend's birthday party at MVCC doing crazy jumps and canonballs from the higher diving board. I had to drag them off of it after at least an hour of fun on it with their friends!

PS: I am SO grateful for my pool. This is the first summer we've had one. AND - not only do we have a pool, we have a recently resurfaced pool with a huge baja step where we can sit in our chairs and the baby can play. It is such an upgrade. Remember how I said my cute husband is the man who makes all my dreams come true?

Friends - you have an open invite to come swim. We LOVE company. :-)
