Flying Kites!

We had one of those fabulously windy days last month that rarely come around in our hometown of Phoenix. When I say, rarely, I mean it. We purchased a kite for the boys at least 2 months ago, and this particularly windy Sunday afternoon provided the first opportunity to try it out! After naps, we loaded the boys onto their bikes with Tim carrying the kite and taking "Will" duty (meaning, responsibility for making sure the little man didn't get distracted on his bike and kept pedaling with us - no easy task) and me holding the leash for our Daisy dog (who is TERRIBLE on a leash). Quite the party. Suffice it to say, Tim gave me more than a few sideways glances and funny comments about how we (meaning me) can never pack light to go anywhere as a family. I definitely resemble that remark! Ha ha!

There was tons of wind this day, so much so that even carrying the kite (on the bike) was no easy task for my cute husband. But, for flying it - it was awesome. We got some serious height on it and it was just about more than our little $10 kite could handle! The boys had a fabulous time.

What a cute daddy, right? Teaching his boys to fly kites? Love that man.

It was a gorgeous day and I just love the park by our house. We live in such a pretty spot next to the Phoenix Mountain Preserve.

After the kite flying fun, the boys took some time to hone their tree climbing skills before heading home. And ... quite the adventure that ride home was, too. We met up with the Hoxworth's at the park and walked home with them. Sarah was ... well ... having a hard time coming up with the right word to describe what she thought of my setup ... but "impressed" would not be it ... "worried" would be a little more accurate regarding her opinion on my attempt to ride a bike while holding the leash for Daisy. What was I thinking? Pregnant, on a bike, while trying to keep upright with a 60 lb dog who makes frequent ABRUPT stops ... I fell once and almost fell several more times than that. Not my brightest idea yet! ;-)

It was a great Sunday. I love my family. I love my life...
