Adventures in Potty Training

So... I ran out of diapers this week and bit the bullet.

I started potty training my strong willed 2 year old.

This kid is hilarious. He has been mildly interested in the potty since he could walk, but never actually "produced" anything on said pot. So, I put it off ...

On Wednesday, I decided we were done with that routine so I pulled out the potty chair and started setting the timer for every 20 minutes. I loaded him up with juice and smoothies and Gatorade and salty snacks and ANYTHING I could think of to make him pee. Would you believe he held it ALL morning?? I even sat the thing in front of a video! Will must have sat on the pot for 2 hours before finally giving in ... at 1pm in the afternoon. Big credit to Jeanne for encouraging me to hang in there with him and to NOT put him down on for naps until he went.

Isn't he cute in his big boy underwear? I think he really does like being a big boy now!

On Day #2, cute little Molly Hoxworth came over and we decided to take a walk to the park. I should have known better ...

On Day #2 we had an accident at the park. Will refused to put on his wet pants to bike home, so he had me fashion some sort of coverup out of his extra T-shirt. Hilarious.

Its been over a week now and he is doing ok with it. Although - we still could use some prayers in the #2 department. He has ruined more pairs of unders this week than I'd like to think about. All the poop in pants in not great for my pregnant tummy, but I know we'll get there eventually. He's got to tire of being hosed down with cold water in the backyard someday, right? ;-)
