Things I Love About New Babies ...

As I've been enjoying this new babe over the past THREE MONTHS (yes, I now have a 3 month old!), I've been keeping a running list in my head of things I love about new babies. I just have to write it all down because I am already seeing sweet Caleb grow out of some of these precious little newborn habits. Sad face.
This by no means is a complete list of things I love about new babies, but I still need to write it down as I know that no matter how hard I try to burn these things into my brain and remember them, the memories are sure to fade as we create new ones ...

I LOVE how soft new babies are, how cuddly, and squishy - and Caleb is a fantastic cuddler, I love holding him and squeezing him.

I LOVE little clenched fists. Its adorable how scrunched up their entire bodies are actually. His little fists are just only now starting to open up about as much as they are clenched.

I LOVE how when you pick up a new baby from sleeping or laying down that they pull their little legs to their chest and arch their cute baby backs.
I LOVE their jerky little movements as they have yet to master motor control. I really like changing Caleb's diaper and getting his undivided attention as he happily wiggles about the changing table.

I lOVE baby noises, every coo and gurgle makes me a little giddy. I really like "talking" to Caleb and the soft little noises he makes. Today, when I put him in front of a mirror, he lit up with a huge smile and started talking to himself.

I LOVE tiny, heart shaped, baby mouths. I love the way their little tongues start working furiously when they are hungry and I love the little drool bubbles they blow when they are happy.

I LOVE how tiny babies can fall asleep anywhere when the need hits ...

If its not abundantly obvious, I really like being a mommy to a new baby again. I remember Melinda talking about how having her third (AmyLynn) was like "eating cake" and I remember Alishia telling me that their third was her's and Jamie's "favorite baby". Its not that any of us love this third babe any more than the other two, its just that you really appreciate and relish it more.

I have to confess I've let a lot of things go with all the appreciating and relishing that's been going on over here these past three months. If you've been to my house, its pretty obvious. Still, I must admit that I rarely feel bad about it.

"Eating cake?"

I like that. I get that now. Sweet baby Caleb is just, simply delicious.
