A Fun Day ...

Today was a great day.

An action packed, memory making, eat too many sweets and not enough vegetables, good kind of tired day. Not the kind of day you could do all the time. ... especially not if you ever wanted clean clothes for your family to wear or have items on the never-ending "to do" list actually get crossed off. But ... a fun day to be a Barrett nonetheless.

This morning, at 8am Jared played his last T-ball game as a four year old member of the Giants. To celebrate his last game, his Poppi and Gigi AND his Uncle Nathan & Aunt Christy & Baby Judah came out to watch. Jared had a great game and played his little heart out. It's been a really fun learning experience for him to play T-ball. He's learned the basics of the sport and really tried his best. He's hitting better and running faster than he did 8 weeks ago and he knows now where all the bases are. More importantly, he's had his first exposure to team sports and lessons on the importance of good sportsmanship. We couldn't be happier with his time as a Giant in the St. Francis League.

Some pics from the last game ...

The Daddy's leading warm ups before the game ...
(this is a very "coach intensive" league - so cute)

Jared taking a big swing for his home run in the first inning
(the last batter always gets to hit a "home run" in T-ball - so fun!)

Jared running his fastest towards home with Tim
(& Will & Nathan) as 3rd base coach -
an important job which entails continually reminding the
kids where home base is and when its time to run.

After the T-ball game, we ate a snack bar breakfast with the Bentleys (and the kids had their requisite 9am Popsicles). We then raced home, made some PB&J's and packed the car to head north. Tim had another grueling ride to practice for the Iron Horse, while the boys and I had a nice drive up the hill to play with the Utterbacks.

Will and Jared were soo happy to see their
friends and ride bikes together again!

She was so excited, oh what fun it must be to have a girl!!

And, as if that day wasn't full enough ... we also had tickets to a SFXAA fundraiser that night at Chase Field to see the Diamondbacks play the Brewers. Had we had a little lighter day, we might have been able to make it to the field at 3pm to see warmups and be there at 4pm for the Little Leaguer's march around the field ... BUT all things considered, we were lucky to make it by 5pm for the first inning!

We had a great time at the boys' first baseball game. We were seated in the left field bleachers and surprisingly close to the field, which was great. As to be expected, there was not to much sitting and watching baseball - we tried to make it really fun for them ... lemonades, burgers and fries, play area, and even a big cookie. By the 5th inning we were toast and happily heading home...

We had a ball hit to our section and Will was READY to catch another one ...
for a few minutes anyway. Then he asks, "Hey, why is he not hitting to meeee??"

"Ready to Catch Hands."

Jared was getting some great baseball lessons from his Daddy.

The boys took a break in the play area.
And, yes, the game was still going on at this time. ;-)

Cookie faces.

Jared ready to catch his ball. (no we didn't actually catch one)

The planes flying overhead the open stadium roof are equally,
if not more, entertaining than the actual play when you are 4 and under.

I couldn't resist taking one more picture of him
in
his Giant's shirt. He is getting so big so fast!

Will needed a lift back to the car ...
little legs were tired after such a long day

It really was a fun day to be a Barrett.

And to think, tomorrow's Mother's Day which means with any luck I may not have to do dishes all day! Hooray! ;-)
