We just had a wonderful visit from the best in-laws ever. Tim's parents had a trip planned for some time to come see the kids (and by default, Tim and I) for a long weekend. Prior to the events of the last week, we had a lot planned around town for their trip ... Children's Museum, Phoenix Zoo, and the baptism of the boys at church ...
When we lost the baby, all our plans went out the window.
We decided to head to my parent's place in Flagstaff to get away and enjoy the weather ... and spare me from feeling the need to give my house the deep cleaning it so desperately needs after the last few months of neglect.
We had a great time ...
We took the fam hiking on the Kachina Trail at Snowbowl ... this is one of our faves. We take the boys out every time we are in Flag. Easy trail, gorgeous views. Perfect for Jared's little legs.
Jared hiked the whole time, Will rode most of the time. Tim took one for the team so we could cover some more ground than we could have otherwise if Will had walked ... what a trooper.
Papa picked his lunch spot on top of a rock and soon had some company.
Jared saw a bug that was "this big".
Will found a stick and lots of bugs and leaves of his own.
Grandma Kim's boys ...
We made sure to plan plenty of sweet treats so that Grandma Kim could properly spoil her grandsons.
They made caramel apples...
And chocolate chip cookies (or "SOOKIES!" as Will calls them)
Will's chocolate "SOOKIE!" face...
Our favorite part of being in Flag in the summer is enjoying the cool weather and the outdoors. My parent's have an awesome deck where we eat most our meals. It backs to a wooded common area ... we even saw deer while drinking our morning coffee and were amused by the antics of a pair of lively woodpeckers.
We made sure to bring our baseball gear so Jared could show off his mean swing for Papa Bob.
Will helped gather balls...
And, of course, more ice cream...
It was perfect. Lots of fun for boys and some rest for me. Would you believe that for the four days they were here, I didn't get out of bed once before eight am??? When Grandma Kim and Papa Bob are in town, Jared heads straight for them in the morning instead for me.
These boys LOVE their grandparents.
