I've been waiting to transition Caleb into his own room until I had properly converted it from our de-facto storage room (with all the boxes of frames I have YET to hang on the walls) into a cute nursery fit for our little prince. This week, however, I'd had enough of him waking up literally every 1 1/2 hours to feed for 5 minutes and moved him out of our room - for 2 nights now he's been in there! And, the more I'm in there, the more I'm motivated to get it organized for him.
So ... now its seriously time to make good on my goal of decorating Caleb's room. My husband tells me the decorating envelope is pretty much empty, so I'm trying to figure out my plan to make it cute for little to no money. Caleb has a navy/white gingham crib sheet and PB curtains that I plan to use as my starting point.
What he really needs is a rug! Our whole house, including his room, is saltillo tile. Not too great for a baby. Today, while driving home from our swim play date, I was lured into the fabric store (where this little experience took place) by a sign promising $39.99 - 5 x 8 rugs. None of the $40 ones would work, but they did have some shag options for $49.99 that have potential ...
The blue is too dusty to work with navy, the red one is the same color as the boys room ... What do you think about this green one?
Some hanging fabric continued to solidify the scheme ...
Once home I started googling some ideas for more inspiration using this green/navy scheme ...

Love the polka dots here !

I think I can get by relatively inexpensively with my wonderfully talented mom who rocks at the sewing machine. I know she tried to teach me - to my shame I never caught on ...
I think if I can spring for the rug (If the green is too much I could do the white or beige shag) and some white or off white paint and a few fabrics, we should be in business. I plan to skip the crib bumper to save money since Caleb will probably need the crib tent right away anyway so I think all I need is a cute crib skirt. And some letters, to cover in fabric - like JJ did for little Drew's adorable room.
My biggest obstacle is going to be the room size ... what to fit and where... there is a twin folding bed that I sometimes have to put one of the boys on. Should I move it out or try to incorporate it with a navy/white/green spread & pillows to make it into a day bed? Hmmm... I might need to call in some help on that one!
What say you, Cute Husband? Will this little project be worth it for a good night's sleep? :-)
