Flowers!

At the end of this low-key summer week of play dates with the Hanson girls (and boy) ...

... and tire swings ...

... and enjoying babies sharing lunch ...

... and swimming with Judah ...

... and playing in the dirt with brothers ...

We worked on a little front-yard project of prepping our bare flower beds for some colorful annuals to brighten our front walk...

Its been a cooler than normal week (seriously - mornings have been 77 degrees - until 7am at least). So, this morning after having our breakfast outside, we spent a few hours digging bucketfuls of rocks out of this bed and prepping it with good soil (that big trash can in the back is FULL of rocks! Tim is going to be sooo excited.)

We put a few lovelies in pots ...

... and planted and watered liberally ..
.
So pretty!

We plan to put some perennials in these beds sometime soon, but these pretty vincas will do the trick for the next few months without breaking the budget ... I had to make sure CH knew that he's only looking at $10 worth of annuals right there. :-)

What is it about little aesthetic improvements to our surroundings that makes us so happy? We were created to live in lovely places...

and, (speaking of "happy") I should add that this morning my sweet Jared got up and did ALL three chores without even being asked! Yay!

Now ... I'm in a total project mood. What to tackle tomorrow? :-)
