Today was Opening Day for the boys' new little league team. They are playing coach pitch for the first time and their team is the Diamondbacks! It's pretty fun that they get uniforms that they can actually use here in town!
We switched leagues to Diamondback Little League this year because Jared's good buddy, Connor, from school was playing with this league and as a bonus - its a lot closer! The games are played at a school at 18th Street and Grovers. We've really enjoyed getting to know the Fords these past few weeks at practices. They have 3 boys too. From left: Nicholas, Connor, J, Will, and Ryan. Connor and Ryan are the same ages as Jared and Will - fun that all 4 boys are on the same team!
This morning, we were out the door bright and early to partake of their opening day activities/fundraiser ...
We had a yummy pancake breakfast ...
The boys played in the game truck and bounced in the bounce houses...
Then all the teams lined up for a parade ...
And opening ceremony.
By this time were were SO TIRED and headed home for some naps and rests before their 1pm game.
Both the boys did great. In this league after 3 pitches, the kids will get to hit off a T. We were so proud of Will. He's one of the youngest on the team and we missed A LOT of practices with all the sickies that have been around our house, so he ended up hitting off the T after a few foul balls, but he tried so hard! Good boy.
Uncle Nathan and Judah came to watch the game, so my sister, Kelly. Judah is going to out there soon! He was so cute cheering on the boys!
Jared can hit a mean ball and hit it into the outfield every hit I saw. They're not yet really playing all the normal rules, but that didn't stop Jared from playing his heart out...
... and running so fast on every hit!
We had a long, but beautiful day at the ball fields and are looking forward to a great season!!
Go D-backs!
