I Love Sundays

Is there anything better than family time on Sundays?

I love having all afternoon to relax with my family and do fun things. This Sunday we were scheduled to work in the nursery, which was fun AND busy. Watching all those babies wore us out and we all took some great naps. When we woke up we decided to do a fast dinner, and hop on our bikes to the pool to swim and have our watermelon dessert.

These boys LOVE to swim and are pretty good at it, too, thanks to Nana Mary Jane! My little Will is absolutely fearless - it is a challenge to keep him on the side of the pool - he LOVES to swim out ... even if there is no one there to catch him! Yikes!!

We let Jared ride his bike next to Tim and I (Will was in the bike trailer). He did so great. Jared is every bit our cautious first born son, so Tim and I are always looking for opportunities to challenge him to be brave to build his confidence and his coordination. The distance from our house to the pool is a little less than a half mile, with only one challenging part where we cross a semi-busy road and head down a hill. On his little 2 wheeler with training wheels, he is really starting to keep up pretty well. Tim and I were both super impressed about what he did after we were done swimming...

When we hopped on our bikes to head home, we saw our friends, the Utterbacks, at the top of the hill. They were at the golf course above us so we decided to walk our bikes up to visit with them - too steep to ride. The kids had so much fun doing some serious running and racing on the grass. When it was time to go home, we had to take the long way home to avoid coming down the steep hill we walked up. Although the way we ended up going was not as steep as the alternative, it was still a pretty good downhill ... and Jared killed it! He got going pretty fast and stayed on his bike the whole time and made it the entire way home ... AFTER some serious swim time and running! (I do have to add that a wipe out into the rocks would have been terrible, considering the speed that he was going AND the fact that he was wearing only his swim trunks and tennis shoes) I measured it later ... total distance home was 1.2 miles!! Not bad for little 3 year old legs.

Great job, buddy!!
