Watoto!

Last night we took the family to Gold Canyon to a church where our dear friends lead worship to see the Watoto Childrens Choir from Africa.  It was amazing.  I'm a crier by nature (and more so when pregnant), but I was teary eyed and then some throughout the entire performance.  These children are all orphans raised in a community/home environment - where they hire a widow to be the mama to eight children and raise them in a family.  Throughout the performance, they weaved their stories into the music and talked about the impact of Jesus on their lives.

Its an amazing ministry.  The music and dancing were awesome, even Caleb was enthralled ...

We picked up a children's book called Latitha's Story at the adoption conference we attended this spring and have been reading it to the boys for the past several months.  Since they have this background, they were excited to see the Watoto children in person.  The book is very sad, but its a good read for kids that are ready to hear about orphans and the realities of life for much of the world's children.

Look it up.  Take your kids.  Talk about orphans.  Buy the children's book and read it to your children.  Let the Lord break your heart for them ... And pray about how your family can help.
