Today was a much needed and restful Sabbath. Our only errand today other than church was a quick run to Pier One to exchange grandma's chairs for these navy print ones.
I love. Seriously. So comfy and just the look I was hoping for.
Our friends and neighbors came over for a last minute burger dinner tonight and concurred that the new chairs were a good choice. JJ (aka my style maven) had the fabulous idea of moving the chandelier (not shown) that is a little out of place over our armoire to hang above this small table in our new little seating nook. LOVE IT. I'll work on that one this week as it solves a multitude of problems, among them the big open space over the pictures, the table too small for a lamp yet needing light, and what to do with that chandelier!
Here's another picture of the fireplace:
Tim still has some trim to complete on the mantel and we're planning to remove the scrolly thing in the middle. We do like it though. We're not 100% sold on the blue, but plan to continue encasing the bottom with white wood and trim. Then we can make a decision on the final color. Its a very pretty color, we're just not sure its OUR color. Picking colors is so hard!! In this picture I was testing out brick as a border and have decided against it. What to trim the inside of the mantel with is still up for debate. The blue hippy print has come down for good. Tara - I'm liking your idea of the stencil!!
In the meantime, our new chairs make me so happy. They've been our big splurge on this design on a dime adventure. It was fun to see tonight when the Heller's came over how we all gravitated to this new, comfy, inviting spot. Love that. :-)
