Three Cheers for the Bosch!

Last night we did our first run of bread with our new grain mill and the bosch mixer given to us by the fabulous Mrs. Stavros. Now, to clarify, I have been making our family's bread all year - just with store bought flour and a stand-up mixer. It has been better than store bought bread, but just "all right". Definitely not as good as the bread made by Melinda or Lisa with the fresh ground whole grain. And, the Kitchen Aid standup does 2 loaves at a time, the Bosch does 4-5 and kneads it to the perfect consistency.

Making bread last night was a family affair. The boys, and even Tim, helped out with adding the ingredients. Tim couldn't believe how simple it was. From start to finish it was not more than 20 minutes of actual "work" ... then some time to rise (30 min) and bake (30 min) and then ...

... one happy husband enjoying his fresh bread, warm from the oven with a little butter and agave nectar (thanks, Steph for the tip on the agave). Yummy!

The boys today enjoyed their peanut butter and jellies more than usual - asking for seconds. Jared says, "Mommy, this is delicious!"

I am so excited to be able to bake with freshly milled grain now. Not only does it taste so much better, it makes me happy that we will enjoy the health benefits of true whole grain in our bread and everything else we make with flour, as well.

PS: For those of you that know my cute husband, this might make you laugh ... after helping me make the 4 loaf batch, Tim immediately got online to figure out how he could market and sell the stuff. Do you know that you can buy bread like this online? $5/loaf plus $5 to ship. While I am thinking of all the money we will be saving and how much healthier we will be ... Tim, ever the entrepreneur, is trying to figure how to turn it into a profit. Love him. ;-)

I know, right? We've gone through more loaves than I would like to admit since last week. I used to think, 4 loaves?! Why would you need that many? Now I know the answer to that question.
